History

The Chipit is a designer offspring of the two popular breeds, the American Pit bull terrier, and the tiny Chihuahua. As they are not purebred, they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). The breed is popular for being affectionate but a big personality despite its small size. It has long ears, rounded eyes, and a broad body with the narrow muzzle. It remains quite agile and participates in different sports after being trained.

Temperament and Personality

Due to the small size of chihuahua pit mix dogs are perfect family pet dog and bonds well with one of the members of a family with whom it spends more time. They have the trait of following the family members around the house and socializing with new people is the best quality. They have a terrier instinct and boldness which might make them chase other small animals.

Exercise

Chihuahua Pitbull is highly active and energetic so it requires a daily walk with short playing sessions to maintain fitness and mental stimulation. It does like being left alone, so let them be engrossed in toys and play games with them like fetching, catching the ball, etc.

Grooming

Chipits are moderate shedders so they are easy to maintain and groom. Brush its coat with a stiffed-bristled brush weekly to avoid dead hairs and bathe them occasionally to maintain the shine. Trim its nails monthly to prevent injuries that may occur by broken nails or torn. Clean its ears with a cotton ball dipped in an ear cleansing solution.

Health Problems

Chipit is a healthy crossbreed and has less chance of suffering from genetic problems. Some other dog issues can be hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, allergies, heart disease and skin problems.

Training

The puppy remains calm and quiet but requires basic training of being well-mannered. Their smart and intelligent nature makes teaching sessions easy and quick. Start with obedience training from the initial stage so that it can create a strong bond and also introduce it to other pets to prevent small dog syndrome.

Feeding

Serve them with 1-5 to 2-5 cups of good quality dry kibbles according to its size. Split its meal into two to three halves every day and its food should be rich in protein with low grain content.
