Exercise

Since they are active dogs, they require a vigorous amount of activity for about half an hour to release out their energy. They love to play outdoors and run primarily while being with loved ones. Involve the dog in sports like swimming, fly ball and agility.

Grooming

The dog sheds moderately due to which it requires brushing three to four times a week. It needs trimming now and then with occasional bathing. Clip its nails and keep a check of its ears for any infection.

Health Problems

The breed is prone to allergies and hair loss and might inherit epilepsy, cancer, cardiac problems, exercise-induced collapse, hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, glycogen storage disease, and cataracts.

Training

It is easy to train if the approach is firm and consistent with positive techniques. The best method to teach them is the reward basis and do not make its teaching sessions long and repetitive. Socialize with them during their puppyhood because they require more time than other retrievers.
