History

The Irish Doodle is a hybrid of the Poodle and the Irish Setter. Although these medium-sized dogs have official recognition from many organizations, their origin is unknown. Based on your precerence you can choose an Irish Doodle from two sizes. They are available as mini Irish Doodle and Standard versions. The former weighs 25-35 pounds while the latter can be anywhere between 40-70 pounds.

Temperament & Personality

The carefree and friendly Irish Doodle puppies are an excellent family dog. It is adept at amusing people and being the center of attention, a result of having the Poodle’s lineage. Their intelligence and wary attitude makes them great with kids and other pets. We love Doodles because they can adjust well to apartment life and love being close to their owner. It is always attentive and signals its master if it gets suspicious.

Care

Exercise

Light walking and some playing sessions will be enough for the Irish Doodle. Access to an enclosed yard will be useful for them to run freely.

Grooming

Maintaining this breed is quite easy as brushing just two times a week will maintain its coat. Dry-shampoo or bathe the dog only when it needs one. Keep its ears clean to avoid infection. Due to its low-cost grooming and healthy coat standards, it is famous amongst curly haired dog breeds.

Health Problems

Although there are no significant issues, some might be prone to deafness, hip dysplasia, and other issues common in dogs. Ask the breeder or the vet regarding potential health hazards.

Training

Irish Doodles get bored quickly, so their training sessions should consist of fun and exciting games. It demands patience and commitment from its master. Begin basic obedience and socialization training from puppyhood. House training is relatively easy for this dog.

Feeding

Since there is no specified food for these dogs, give them good quality dog foods. The quantity varies according to its size, age, and metabolism.
