Newfypoo was developed from a cross between elegant Poodle and sweet Newfoundland, dedicated companions and makes ideal family pets. These dog best suits on land as well as water, it is known for its proficiency in different tasks like watching, obedience, tricks, etc., It is a relatively new charming hybrid which is gaining popularity as an ideal pet. This pet is not for apartment dwellers as it requires a larger home with a yard to play move and play freely.

Temperament & Personality

The dog is notable to many because of its kind-heartedness, friendliness, and even temper. They are very social and playful and make a great companion as a playmate for children, family and other pets in the house. In spite of their attractive look, they are very responsible and protective towards their family, which makes them ideal guard dogs. Large dogs often scare the trespassers with their striking personality.

Care

Exercise

Although not a hyperactive dog, Newfypoo puppies are fairly active and activities like short walks, hikes, different games benefit their physical health. To maintain mental health, it should be given different puzzle games and playtime with the owner.  Distance running is not ideal for these dogs, but they enjoy swimming. Therefore a water park treat will be rejuvenating for the dog.

A fenced yard is ideal for Newfypoos, as they can walk, run and enjoy outdoor playtime. These activities will strengthen up its muscles and bones and also expend his energy.

Grooming

Moderate grooming is adequate for this dog, the coat requires frequent trimming due to its continuous growth, daily brushing is advisable to remove the loose hair and to prevent matting. It does not expect regular baths, once every two months will be adequate to keep up with the hygiene.

Its folded hanging ears require checks every week to minimize wax collection and keep its drooping ears infection free. Nails will need clipping when they overgrow. To maintain its oral health, it is mandatory to brush them twice a week to avoid tartar build up and keep the dental problems at bay. Owners can also seek help from the professional groomers as grooming Newfypoos is a scary task and requires specialized hands to maintain them.


Health Problems

There is a possibility that the dog will inherit health problems from its parents breed. Although it does not mean it will inherit all of them, it entirely depends on the animal’s long-term health. However, there are few major, minor problems seen in this breed.

Training

With their pleasing personality, Newfypoo obeys orders and listen to its master’s command. Training this breed is comfortable than other breeds, as they require less repetition. Utilization of positive training method is crucial as they like to get loved, praises hugs and treats from its master.

A fully grown pet is large and heavy, teaching them to walk with a strap is essential, it will ensure control over the dog while walking out. Commands like “sit,” “come,” “go” “stop” are also important to correct their behavior.

Additional activities including fun tricks like giving high five, shaking hands, etc. can be taught to the intelligent dog. Repetition of the actions will make the dog automatically learn tricks quickly.

Feeding

Newfypoos are heavy eaters due to their massive size.  High quality commercial foods from 4 ½ to 6 cups will be adequate to keep up with its energy level. Meals divided into several feeding sessions will not only help their digestion, but it also helps the dog from obese and overweight.
